Show Me Fire publishes Missouri fire weather information drawn from public weather services, observation networks, and our own forecast products. This page lists the primary sources we use and links to their official pages.

Show Me Fire is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, funded by, or operated on behalf of the National Weather Service, NOAA, the State of Missouri, the University of Missouri, or any other government agency or university. The developer is a University of Missouri student; that personal academic status does not mean the university sponsors, supports, or operates Show Me Fire.

National Weather Service Alerts

Active Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches shown on the website and in the mobile app are issued by the National Weather Service (NOAA). We retrieve Missouri alerts from the official NWS CAP feed and display them for convenience. For life- and property-critical decisions, always confirm the official product.

Forecast Maps and Fire Danger Products

Daily forecast maps, fuel-moisture guidance, and related fire danger products on Show Me Fire are our own derived products. They incorporate NOAA/NWS numerical weather model data (including the High-Resolution Rapid Refresh, or HRRR) together with ground observations. They supplement, and do not replace, official NWS forecasts and warnings.

Observation Networks

Station observations used in forecasts and related analysis come from public and partner networks, including:

• RAWS (Remote Automated Weather Stations) — fire weather–oriented stations often operated through federal and partner programs. raws.nifc.gov
• Missouri Mesonet — Missouri’s mesoscale observation network. missourimesonet.com
• AWOS (Automated Weather Observing System) — airport and aviation weather observations commonly available through NOAA/NWS dissemination.
• CWOP (Citizen Weather Observer Program) — volunteer weather stations contributing to the public observational record. NWS CWOP information
